My students come from challenging backgrounds. Their uniqueness makes teaching a great experience as they aim for greatness daily. Receiving help from donors gives my teaching the support I need to expand my students' understanding.
I am a part of this challenging, but amazing community.
One hundred percent of our students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. There are high-poverty/low-income families served. We are bordering the Navajo Nation Lands, so about 97% of our students are Native Americans. The majority of students live off the paved roads, which gives families the challenges of coming to school every day. A majority of our students come from single-parent households.
Our school makes every effort to positively impact the school culture and we continuously work with our families and the challenges they face each day. We use our school-home connection to engage families in activities allowing for more participation. Making strong lifelong learners and continuing to engage students to take part in their education is what we strive for.
My Project
Mobile book center will display books to encourage reading for enjoyment. Students will be able to see books available and reachable. As I continue to include reading independently daily, students will enjoy selecting from varies and engaging books from all genre.
The book center is a great addition to our reading for success classroom.
It will give the students the strive to read more. Our books are now packed into cubbies without their covers seen. Students have been over glancing the books available in the classroom. This book display will be our focal point of the classroom as we learn to enjoy books again.
