My students need a document camera to complete work together as it is projected on the board during whole group instruction. They also need whiteboard clipboards to use in their flexible seats and whole group instruction.
Students in my school come from a high-poverty/low income neighborhood. Many students receive assistance for breakfast, lunch, school supplies, clothing, holidays, and even weekend back sack meals.
For my students, school is a safe haven with consistency, daily routines, and caring adults.
They enter a safe building and can go about their day as 3rd graders instead of worrying about life outside of school for a few hours. I try to have a comfortable and positive classroom, with many seating options, to help keep them focused and excited about learning.
As 3rd graders, my students are transitioning from picture books to novels and from addition and subtraction to multiplication and division. We are bridging the gap from primary to intermediate grades and responsibilities.
My Project
Components of successful lesson plans are hooking your students' interest, modeling the objective, guided practice, independent practice, and checking for understanding. The heart of the lesson is guided practice and independent practice.
Guided and independent practice are key components to engaging lessons.
With this project, students will be able to sit closely to the board or in their flexible seats with the same document that is being projected from the document camera. Guided practice will be completed together on an identical document in real time. They will also be able to practice the objectives independently on the whiteboard clipboards that will be able to be reused for years to come.
