This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school, which means our students come from low-income families. These families are busy with making sure their children are fed, clothed and in school. Students today come to school needing help in many areas from academic to basic needs.
My students have very little experience with being creative and creativity is every bit as important as learning to read, write and solve math problems!
I want to provide as many opportunities as possible in my classroom where I can combine creativity and writing.
My Project
Most students HATE to write! I have taught for over 20 years and no matter how I "jazz" up a writing lesson, my students groan when it's time to write.
I will use the HP Sprocket wireless photo printer to spark creativity and excitement in my students so they will LOVE writing.
They can use their creative eye to take a photo using our class iPad. Then they can immediately print their photo and stick it right into their writing journals!
With this little wireless photo printer, I will hear cheers when I say it's "writing time"!
Another skill that my students need to master is explaining mathematical concepts in writing. In my classroom, we use math manipulative quite often. With this little photo printer, my students can take a photo of their math work, print it and then write to explain what they have learned in math that day.
