Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Like many before you, you have just moved to America- the land of the free and the brave. You have left everyone you know and love behind to start a new life here. This is the story of my ELL students.
Many of them have only been in the USA a few years and came here knowing no English at all.
My job is to help them learn the language and continue to strive for the American dream.
My students have been studying for the English proficiency exam all year and after they complete the exam I want to show them Chicago!
I want to show them the majestic city they call home. I want them to experience more than their neighborhoods and see one of Chicago's highlights: The Shedd Aquarium.
My Project
My students have been working hard all year preparing for the state mandated English proficiency exam. Many of my students have never seen downtown and are recent immigrants to the USA. I want to show them Chicago after their test.
My students will visit the Shedd Aquarium and see the aquatic show as well as have time downtown for lunch.
My students will learn about the city they live in as well as experience a fun trip to celebrate all their efforts. My students will now be able to tell their parents and younger siblings about Chicago, since many of them have not explored it yet!
