This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the hardest working and most academic driven students I have ever worked with. Most of the time, school is their only safe place - the one location they can thrive without fear of negative outside influences.

Often times, students will work at the school on Saturdays, during holidays, and many hours after school to avoid going home.

Because these awesome, wonderful, intelligent people spend so much time at school, I want their learning environment to be as safe and comfortable as possible. Our classroom needs to be a safe haven for as many students as possible.

My Project

This project is meant to inspire and support students of all learning backgrounds. We have partially flexible seating set up in place, and I see the benefits on a daily basis. Students feel more comfortable and connected in a room that is centered around them and their needs.

Choices help students learn and grow, and the stability of a comfortable classroom is something many do not have at home.

I want to provide my leaders with everything they need to be successful!

When students are learning on their laptops, writing in their notebooks, or just discussing history, they would love to spread out on a sectional sofa! They need a faux leather sectional where they can come together (comfortably and hygienically ) for a small group mini-lesson or discussion.

There are 200 eighth graders all together, and this sectional would provide seating options for quite a few students at a time (for quite a few years). The floor is going to be cold this winter, and it's pretty hard. Our class needs a large couch!
