Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first-grade students are bright, creative, and unique individuals. They are excited about class even though we are doing remote learning. Many don't have all the school supplies needed to do their best and show their artistic side. Most of the students come from close-knit families. The families of these students want to see their children succeed. They care a great deal about their child's well being and put great value into their education. The students come from homes of proud working-class Latino families. Many homes qualify as low income, too. They still manage to make educational needs a priority. They live in an old Chicago neighborhood and care about their child's learning.

My Project

Many of these materials will be used for everyday work. This donation will provide the students with a brand new set of supplies for classes after winter break. The students will be excited to have the sharpener, sharpie, and colored pencils. Most of the students do not currently have these items.

I can't wait to see their excitement if this gets funded.

They enjoy illustrating stories and participating in our Friday art drawing lessons. Many have limited colors for their illustrations. "I don't have blue, may I use green" will no longer be uttered! These supplies will have an impact on their work and bring smiles to bright and eager learners.
