I need a good laptop for remote learning. I would like a 14 inch screen for easily transporting the device. A touchscreen is necessary to interact more quickly with the students and sign forms. The device needs to have enough power to work in google meets from 5 to 7 hours daily plus additional hours for entering grades, planning and grading work submitted online. With the spring remote learning experience I had many technology issues. I was able to teach and had a clear picture. However, I wasn't able to stream read aloud books or do activities that were streamed from other sites. My laptop did not have enough power to stream through Chrome. I had to go through the browser Microsoft Edge and read the book to the students myself. Near the end, I would play the sound from my phone and video stream from my laptop. That experience has caused issues with my personal laptop. I would like a better experience for the fall remote learning session. The students will be engaged in instruction and will be working with me to complete activities. I am hoping to utilize Pear Deck with the students. I am also hoping to use other Chrome attachments. Since I wasn't able to go through Chrome for instruction, I also wasn't able to try all of the attachments that would make the remote experience more interactive and fun. This fall google suite and google meet will be a major part of remote learning. We will assess students through amplify. We may possibly be using Raz-kids, Moby-Max, brainpop jr and Seesaw as we have in the past. A great laptop will definitely help. Thank you for thinking about my class.
