My Project
Help me fill in the missing pieces from last year! My first year of teaching was so much smoother thanks to your generosity! The calm corner rug, jumbo timer, and laminator were particular favorites. Now that I've completed a year, I know what pieces are missing in my classroom and what the school can and can't provide.
I am asking for tools to help students focus, manipulatives that will make the curriculum come to life, and office items that will make material management easier and more efficient.
Last year, I yearned for a class set of these noise-cancelling ear muffs. I had many kiddos who struggled to focus in such close proximity to their peers, and a few kids who needed to make noise. These headphones will help meet the needs of different kids to complete their independent work with fewer distractions and a calmer classroom.
In a similar vein, these chair bands are a great tool for kids who need sensory input, but they are hands-free. I had a few of these last year, and I noticed that when I put them on their chairs, kids who were constantly getting up out of their seats were magically able to stay in their spot and access their seat work.
I'm also really excited about these magnetic base ten blocks. I tried to make my own last year, but they kept falling off the board and were too small. These will help my kids grow a better understanding of and become more fluent with using 10s to add more efficiently.
I am so excited to start my second year and am so so grateful for the support of my community (with Donors Choose but also emotionally and intellectually) in helping me be the best teacher I can be! Thanks in advance!
