My students come to me with a wide range of academic needs. Most are significantly below grade level and lacking support at home to make the progress necessary to succeed. These deficits have placed them in a learning support setting.
My students are far behind when it comes to reading and writing, but they’re hard workers and love learning.
In order for them to have more learning opportunities, we’re looking for new tools to help them to succeed in school and for the rest of their lives.
Virtual learning is hitting our classroom community hard. It is a struggle to reach all students when we’re lacking technology. With a second screen, I would be able to project documents while still viewing and interacting with my students. By holding live sessions, I will be able to complete work with the students who are struggling.
My Project
With a second screen, I will be able to meet with students who have limiting technology (ie, gaming systems, cell phones) in order to complete work together. Meeting with students now is a challenge because I’m unable to view my students along side my documents. With a second screen, I will be able to interact more with the kids while working on whole class instruction.
As a special education teacher, I engage in many one-on-one sessions with my students in order to provide an individualized approach to the curriculum being presented.
