My Students

I am a second grade teacher at a title 1 school in San Pablo, CA! Although our school is located in an area notorious for high rates of poverty and violence, my students strive to reach the high expectations given to them. They love learning and we are always looking for creative ways to improve their skills. One of my personal goals is to ensure that my students develop a love of math and science that will last a lifetime and give them the supplies they need to achieve it!

My students are shooting for the stars this year as they explore their inherent capabilities as learners, friends, and members of a classroom community that values kindness, diversity, and respect.

Our school is a Title I school, which means that more than half of the families it serves come from low-income households. Twenty-five percent of students are English Language Learners, ninety-three percent are from low-income households, and one-hundred percent receive free or reduced lunch.

My Project

Life Update: I have accepted a position at Riverside Elementary in San Pablo to teach SECOND grade for the 2020-2021 school year! I am so thankful for my time at Stege & Dover, and I already miss my kids and colleagues dearly, but I am so excited for a new adventure!

In light of the world right now, my goal for my classroom this year is to add books to my classroom library that make every student feel seen and heard.

In addition to this, coming from fourth and sixth grades, a lot of my classroom materials and books are now too advanced. Soon, we'll starting the school year, (and what a crazy school year this will be to say the least!), and my students will be relying on me to teach them from our living room, their parents to help them with work, and technology!

Unfortunately, supplies are always something that we run low on, and now with our special circumstances, the supplies we teachers will need to do our work from home are changing. The budgets get used up, and we are left with a limited amount necessary for what we have to do! This year, I desire to have ample books that will last us through the school year. Reading is the gateway to success in the rest of their schooling, in every subject, and everything they will do in this world!

If you're still reading, a huge THANK YOU from my future kids and I!
