My Students

Once! That's how many times per week that my second grade class is guaranteed time with a class set of laptops. Our school does not have a set of computers for every class, or even one computer for every class. We share 3 class sets for the whole school.

The students in our school come from a wide range of culturally diverse backgrounds.

Our English Language Learner population has grown significantly in recent years. Many of our students receive free or reduced lunch. I have 19 wonderful, enthusiastic second graders. They have a variety of learning needs and it is important to me that my students are appropriately challenged and highly engaged. Having three of our own Chromebooks would help me to meet their needs.

My Project

Chromebooks are amazing pieces of technology! Since they are portable, students will be able to take a Chromebook to their desks to work on enrichment or remediation skills. They can access educational websites and use Google apps. Students can also use Chromebooks on teacher-directed lessons during small group instruction.

Like most children, my students are highly motivated by technology.

My goal is for students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers. Utilizing Chromebooks will support student learning in math and science. This will prepare them to be proficient participants of the 21st century.
