My students are absolutely amazing. They come to school every day excited to learn and grow. Our school and team are a very special place; everyone is there for the same reason which is for the children.
My students come from all walks of life, but most of my students come from low-income households.
No matter what is going on in their lives, they all come to school with a smile on their faces and ready to learn. I want to give my students many opportunities they may not get at home.
My Project
We are so excited to be back in the classroom and we are working harder than ever. With a variety of literacy supplies we are working on building our reading skills. Now that my second graders are in the classroom we are working towards becoming fluent readers and comprehending basic literature. Differentiated materials like the sight word games, book sets and flash cards will allow me to work with students on different levels, some students will be working on sight words and fluency skills while other students are ready to read literature at their reading levels. The classroom timers and foot bands will help my students stay focused during our reading block as well as the entire school day. With a new set of headphones and mice for our classroom, our students can work on their online programs like Smarty Ants to build their literacy skills. The standards that this project will focus on will be Reading Literature, RL.2.1 and Reading Foundational skills, RF.2.3.
