Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a neighborhood on the north side of Chicago. The majority of my students receive free or reduced fee lunches. My scholars come from diverse backgrounds, many single income families and foster care. Seeing how some families struggle, it’s difficult to keep a year-round supply of school necessities always available at our hardworking fingertips! Despite these struggles, they try their hardest daily to meet and exceed high expectations. They are readers, authors, mathematicians, and scientists giving their best effort to achieve their personal goals.
My Project
Student learning will prosper from these items because they will help to create a bright, warm and welcoming environment. Fun paper helps students to stay engaged throughout learning, a doorbell brings a solid foundation to classroom management, a laminator keeps all of our hard work safe and protected, stools provide flexible seating options so that all students' needs are met, lights give our reading nook character and to inspire life-long readers, a reading strategies book helps us to hit the ground running in our small group sessions and chart paper keeps visual learners in tune.
In order for scholarly success to happen, students deserve materials to assist in their learning!
