Help me give my students brain builders and items that can be used for small group work as well as mail boxes for organization and privacy folders for test taking.
I'm hoping to develop my students' ability to think critically with many of the brain building games and STEM activities. Students will have access to these things during small group/center rotations. These types of hands-on activities are exciting and oftentimes a much anticipated learning exercise.
Flash cards will develop automaticity and allow students to check their own answers.
The money flash cards will be used in conjunction with the play money I have in the classroom. The magnifying glasses will be used for a variety of things- students can look closely at variety of objects and make verbal and written observations about them. They can also be used for vocabulary practice, as students look closely at tiny writing to answer questions. A simple exercise made exciting with just a simple magnifying glass! These activities, along with brain games, are ones that students can take turns working with as I meet with small groups.
Speaking of, my small groups will benefit from the stools. Currently, students are dragging their chairs back and forth to meet with me. This distracts others, creates wear and tear on our carpets and eats up valuable time.
And finally, as a newer teacher (third year) I dream of a better mailbox system which would be utilized daily for students to easily collect their work.
