Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of children hungry to learn. They are wonderful, loving children. They do well with structure and organization.

Some of them are having difficult childhoods.

They have many special needs, but are eager to succeed. They enter the classroom each day full of energy and excited for what is in store for them on that day.

One hundred percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are working on improving student outcomes by reaching out to DonorsChoose.

My Project

My students needs new nonfiction leveled books to increase their comprehension, improve vocabulary, and increase their fluency.

This nonfiction leveled classroom library included high interest topics, full color photos and accessible text for every reading level.

This library includes 80 books that are leveled using the Fountas and Pinnell's system-all organized into easy access book bins. Each level comes with a set of 5 non fiction paperback books, and makes it very easy for student to easily find the books they need. One of the best ways to increase vocabulary is to get nonfiction reads into the students hands. These sets are specially chosen across various grade levels to provide the scaffolding my students need. As they progress in vocabulary and stamina, they will move onto the next level box. Students will have access to high quality, targeted books for their exact level. Students will be learning thousands of new vocabulary words. Students will also be able to bring books home to practice their reading daily.
