Second Grade Meets Shakespeare

My students need multiple copies of Shakespeare plays to read in small groups and I need single copies of various Shakespeare plays and poetry for teacher read aloud. We will also need audio of Shakespeare plays so the students will get the true sense of what that time period was like.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Queen's classroom raised $553

This project is fully funded

"Wherefore art thou Shakespeare?" Not in the elementary classrooms where he could be. Shakespeare has written many plays and sonnets that have been re-written for kids. I want to provide the students in my classroom with a study of Shakespeare that will enrich their lives forever. I want to give them a connection to theater and arts that they may otherwise never experience. I teach at a school that is very diverse. We have families that speak many different languages. Our students come from predominantly low income families. Our school is Title 1 and Equity Plus. Our needs are great! I would like to purchase various plays, reader's theater materials, audios of Shakespeare's sonnets and teacher materials. I will use these materials to expose my students to theater through plays. They will learn and recite Shakespeare's sonnets. They will use the history and language from that time period to write their own sonnets. They will even put on a short version of their favorite play to wrap up the unit. With your help my second grade students can experience Shakespeare during his time.
