This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a low-income school outside of the city of Pittsburgh where 100% of the students receive free lunch and breakfast. As a second grade teacher with most of my students living below the poverty level, I am faced with the challenge of providing my students with the experiences necessary to be successful both in and out of school.
My students enjoy coming to school daily and are eager to learn, but most importantly, they want to do their best in all of their activities.
I strive daily to provide them with learning opportunities and experiences that encourage a love of learning and allow them to achieve success in a variety of ways to meet the needs of all of the students in my classroom.
My Project
As education continues to change, our students are being asked to show what they know through online assessments. Our school uses a program called iReady. iReady was designed to deliver the rich insight, powerful instruction, and wide range of support for classroom learning. As a teacher, we use the data from these assessments to level students from all backgrounds to achieve their greatest potentials and guide our instruction to ensure proficiency and growth. With limited access to technology, it is challenging to give all students the opportunity to utilize this program within the classroom .
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement in a way that learning is FUN!
I will also be able to incorporate the Ipads into my center time allowing the students to not only gain technology skills and learn through hands-on, engaging activities, but also to be successful in their schooling.
In order for my students to become more successful within the classroom, my students need the proper tools and materials. By having 2 iPads in my classroom for students to practice the skills they are learning daily based on rotations would be incredibly beneficial to their success.
