This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a wonderful group of 4th graders! They are eager and motivated to learn! My goal is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students to give the best that they possibly can, every day! I have several English Language Learners that fall significantly below the grade level in most (if not all) academic areas. This means I need to provide the accommodations they need to learn the 4th grade material (which is sometimes much higher than they're able to grasp).
As a teacher, I try to always keep the compassion alive in me, especially for my students.
We see these children every day and sometimes don't know their struggles, their worries (tests can be a lot of pressure!) and there is no better way to connect with your students than understanding them. Doing so, I am learning on a daily basis that they need things that I cannot provide on my own. That is where generous donors from DonorsChoose.org come in--they (you) make this a reality for them. Thank you for visiting our classroom in the best way possible!
My Project
There are a total of 9 exams that I’m required to take before being able to apply for permanent teaching certification in the state of Florida. Although I have already attempted to pass four of these exams, I failed to pass one of them. While passing 3 out of 4 is considered a victory, I was shocked to find that there is a penalty for people who have to attempt more than once.
Unfortunately, re-taking this exam costs about five times more than the cost of the first attempt.
By successfully passing this exam I will be one step closer to obtaining a permanent teaching certificate in the state of Florida. This means that I will continue to impact the lives of my current group of students, and the students for years to come, in my school, in my community, and in my district.
