My Project

Our English 2 students are passionate, resilient, and eager to engage in meaningful conversations about race, identity, and social justice. They come from diverse backgrounds and are hungry for a classroom environment where they feel represented, valued, and seen. To foster this environment, I am seeking support for flexible seating options — including yoga ball seats, chair cushions, standing desks, and a 2-seater high-top table.

These seating choices will empower students by offering them the flexibility to choose what works best for their learning style.

For example, yoga ball seats will allow students to move and stay engaged while learning, which is especially helpful for those who struggle with sitting still for extended periods. Chair cushions will enhance comfort, helping students stay focused during class discussions on topics like race and identity. Standing desks will provide students the opportunity to switch between sitting and standing, helping them focus better and feel more in control of their learning. Finally, the 2-seater high-top table will foster collaboration, enabling students to work together in small groups to discuss ideas, share perspectives, and tackle challenging concepts in a relaxed, informal setting.

These seating arrangements are not just about comfort; they are about creating an inclusive, student-centered environment that celebrates the diverse backgrounds of our learners. They allow students to take ownership of their space, engage deeply in class, and discuss difficult topics with the confidence that their voices matter.
