My Students

We are a District 30 community school located in Jackson Heights Queens. Our class is a ESL/Special Education classroom consisting of one teacher, one para and 12 students. We are a Title I school. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch as well more then half our class population is ESL. Our students come from many diverse backgrounds. We are a 1st and 2nd grade bridge class adapting all curriculum to fit our students’ diverse academic and social needs.

My Project

These materials will be used to assist students who require differentiated seating during carpet time. This will help my students remain focused and allow them the flexibility to be mobile and stem while staying on task. Several of my students express difficulty staying sedentary at the meeting area during extended lessons. These seats will allow my students to move and stem in the safety and comfort of the meeting area. As well they will provide comfort from the hard floor. I have seen these seats help my students in the past and appreciate the help you will provide in giving them these adaptive seats.
