Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As a teacher of very active 5 and 6 year olds in a Title I school, I am looking for a way to give them some movement and help them build independence and autonomy. Using flexible seating is a great way to do just that. The stabilizer balls allow them to bounce, the wobble seats give them a chance to wiggle, and the rocker seats allow them to rock while they work. The cushions will give all of the students a chance to get up and move around the room with a soft space to sit and learn.

My goal is to provide flexible seating for my classroom so that my students can benefit from all of the advantages that it offers.

Some of the benefits students can receive using flexible seating are choice, physical health, comfort, community, collaboration, commitment to learning, communication, sensory input, and fun. My students need a lot of movement in their day, and I think this will be a great way to help them get that.
