My Students
My students work hard at trying to gain a deeper understanding of math concepts. My students face many challenges coming from a low income area, but, despite their various backgrounds, they are always ready and willing to work every day.
I work with a wonderful group of 7th grade students.
They are a fun-loving bunch of students who make each day a new adventure! My students have wide ranging abilities, reading levels, and English proficiency. They attend a large inner city public school. Most of my students come from low income families, and all of my students qualify for free lunch.
My Project
When students are motivated and engaged in the classroom, we see the best outcomes for our students. I am trying to adapt my classroom to help create a higher learning environment through engagement, collaboration and comfort for my students.
I have witnessed a change in my students' commitment to their learning and student engagement through the use of alternative seating this year.
I want to bring more seating opportunities to my students. We need Nugget Comfort furniture. The Nugget Comfort furniture will give my students more ownership of where they sit because they will have the option of arranging the cushions. A flexible classroom invites collaboration and allows for a more engaging environment. Being comfortable somehow allows students to stay on task and maintain engagement. They are excited to come into the classroom and choose where they would like to sit.
