Seating Needed for Creating!

Help me give my students a comfortable place to sit while creating in our Makerspace area of the library.

My Students

Collaborating and creating with other students is a key component of our library program. Our students love to gather in our Makerspace Lab where they become innovative thinkers by exploring, creating, designing and problem solving. Separating them because of COVID has been a real challenge.

Our students need tables and chairs so that they can create, build, and explore STEM materials while maintaining social distancing!

We are a public school in Houston Texas with 650 students of varying backgrounds. Our students are very motivated to learn and are involved in many activities in and out of school.

Our Makerspace Lab is in the library which is the hub of our school. It is not a quiet place but a place where students are encouraged to create, build, and work collaboratively with other students. Students are very engaged in the Makerspace activities and I love to see the excitement on their faces when they create something special.

My Project

In this world of COVID, how students learn and collaborate with each other has changed tremendously. More space and creative ways to separate kids has been a challenge. Adding another table and 4 chairs to our Makerspace lab will enable more students to come down to the library and participate in innovative hands-on activities.

More seating is necessary because of social distancing requirements which allows only 2 students to sit at a table.

Adding another table and 4 chairs will allow more students to participate in engaging and innovative lessons.

Students sitting, working and collaborating together makes life long learners and thinkers!
