Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Imagine a classroom where students have the freedom to choose where they learn best. Some may prefer a cozy corner with a stadium seat, while others might benefit from the gentle movement of a yoga ball in a rolling chair. In my classroom, students are encouraged to move around and find spaces where they can be most productive.
My goal is to provide my students with flexible seating options that enhance their comfort, focus, and overall learning experience.
Traditional desks and chairs work for some, but many students thrive when given alternative seating choices that cater to their unique learning styles. Research has shown that flexible seating can improve student engagement, reduce restlessness, and foster a sense of ownership over their learning environment.
In order to create an even more dynamic and student-centered classroom, I am seeking support to fund a introduce variety of new flexible seating options, including:
-Stadium seats for comfortable floor seating and collaborative work.
-Two yoga balls with rolling chairs to promote active sitting and core engagement.
-Floor cushions to provide cozy and versatile seating options.
-Surfing lap desks to allow students to work comfortably in various spaces around the room.
By incorporating these seating options, students will have greater autonomy in choosing learning spaces that help them stay engaged and focused. Flexible seating not only supports different learning preferences but also encourages movement, collaboration, and a sense of responsibility for their own learning environment.
