My Students
My students live in lower socioeconomic neighborhoods that require support and resources for learning. One of the biggest challenges my families face is the ability to provide basic resources for their child to help with any need for success in the classroom.
By providing resources like pencil grips, adapted supplies, and fidgets for sensory needs will best support each student with a disability.
A large percentage of our students live in multi-family member homes, foster homes, other family members and friends' homes, and hotels/motels. These students and families may not have the financial freedoms to provide extra resources above and beyond what is in the school already. By helping provide resources for the student's sensory needs, fine motor skills, and speech skills will help support both in school and at home. This will allow the student to learn skills to be successful as they grow.
My Project
My students need support that go beyond the classroom. Students need sensory supports, occupation therapy supports, speech supports, and physical supports. The alternate seating options, fidgets, and resources will help allow students with disabilities work through their needs and be supported in the classrooms.
Students with disabilities need support with alternate seating, fidgets, and sensory supports to help with working through their needs.
Students are able to work through the school day with a little support along the way. By helping support this grant, students will be able to use the alternate seating and sensory supports to work through their disabilities and work in a community classroom with other peers.
