Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing and dynamic First Graders who have a thirst for knowledge and love to create learning projects. The students in my class are from a high poverty and ow income area of Oklahoma City. My students try their best with the everything that they are given as they continue on the rainbow of learning.
My students love to create their own books, their own animals and anything that can be built with Leggo's.
My students love to be word detectives and find hidden words throughout the classroom. They take pride in their classroom even if the supplies are not available. My students love of reading shines through the book creations as they get to be the author and share a story with their classmates.
They love to celebrate all new forms of learning and love to show off their work to their community. My students have high expectations for themselves and huge dreams that they want to achieve. They come into the classroom a the beginning of the year as shy individuals and they leave at the end of the year as teammates and explorers.
My Project
My students struggle with sitting for long periods of time and so to help them achieve more I am wanting to change my room to a flexible seating so that they don't just have to sit in a chair all day long. I want them to be able to be comfortable while they are learning in the classroom and engaging in all types of learning activities.
Flexible seating will allow my students who need a different type of seat to be able to be comfortable and calmer throughout the day.
It will allow them the chance to work in smaller groups while feeling more relaxed and better able to focus on their learning.
My students love the one exercise ball in my room and through this project it will provide more of my students an opportunity to advance their learning with other seating options.
