My Students
My students and their families have sought out and selected our school to provide an enriching educational environment for their children. Our integrated units of study provide multiple entry points for learning to meet the varied learning needs of all students. Through these studies, students learn how to learn.
They truly take on the roles of researchers, engineers, scientists, nutritionists, and mathematicians.
Almost all of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students understand that they have a place in the world and are more than capable of making an important contribution. They learn to become flexible, resilient, and creative thinkers who are able to work collaboratively and solve problems.
My Project
This year, COVID-19 is changing our children's in-school experience and we face a year like no other. My NYC students will only be able to attend school in person half the week while learning at home the rest of the week. When my students are in school I want them to feel as comfortable as possible even though we will have to maintain physical distance. Each student will be seated at their own table or desk throughout the day.
I believe that children learn best when they can make choices about how and where they sit.
This is why I am requesting yoga mats with lap desks to place around the room so my students have another choice available to them. In addition to their assigned table/desk, they will also be assigned a yoga mat. They can choose where they prefer to sit and learn each day they come to school.
We can stay safe and still make choices to maximize our learning.
