My Students

I teach at a STEM school where students come to school from different cultures, areas, and incomes. I love that the mind of a 3rd grader still has a deep desire to learn and love. In my classroom,​ we are a family. I try to instill in my students to be good human beings and to be kind to one another. I love that my students are able to feel loved and to have an exciting, engaging time while they're in my classroom and put the, often times, hardships of home behind them while they're at school. We celebrate our little successes in hopes of inspiring others to do the same.

My Project

Where did you do your homework as a kid growing up? For me, it was usually my bed! Most of us get to choose the comfy spot at home to relax and work, so why not be able to have the same possibilities at school? My students love to sit in the gaming chairs and the beanbag that is currently in our classroom! My students are focused on their assignments when they get to choose where they sit. My students are always asking if they can go to the reading center to sit in the special chairs. Flexible seating options allow my students to have a choice in their learning and what works best for them. I would love to have more seating options for my students in our classroom. The Wobble Chair and Comfy Floor Seat requested also allow for students who need to get their wiggles out to do so, without being disruptive to their peers. My hope is to have a classroom with seating options for all my students so that they feel comfortable while they're learning.

I have seen the beneficial effects on the students in my classroom with beanbags and want to see even more benefits when I have more possibilities for my students!
