Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of learners who love school. Their curiosity and enthusiasm create a strong sense of community in our classroom, and despite any challenges they may face, they blossom with resilience each day.

Many of my students qualify for free-and-reduced lunch, classifying our school as Tile I.

With many English Language Learners and students with high learning needs, it is imperative that our environment supports students in every way. The primary grades are a beautiful opportunity to build a strong foundation for learning to support them throughout their education. I aim each day to build that for my students.

My Project

Children thrive when given positive choices. We also know that students learn best when given plenty of opportunities to be active. I am asking for stools to add variety to our classroom seating options! Students will be able to choose between a tall or short stool, or maybe they will choose a classroom chair with a band on the bottom that will let them kick their feet.

We also need basic supplies to support our learning this year.

We will use color-coded folders to ensure that each child has a folder with personalized learning materials within. We will use highlighters as students begin to read for the very first time, and later in the year we will highlight text evidence to answer text dependent questions! From markers to book boxes, students will use all supplies throughout the year.
