I meet with approximately 65 students over the course of any given day as a CLDE Teacher Leader. Space and resources are tight! This new rolling whiteboard cart grants me more space to meet the needs of my kiddos/groups throughout the day!\r\n\r\nI typically teach using the LEA method. This is the Language Experience Approach. Using LEA's, our group has a shared experience, project, or looks at a picture or video to have a shared learning experience. We develop the vocabulary together, often tired to literacy skills. Then we co-create a text together. This text is repeated and read many times until it is memorized, then we work on writing the text down together, exploring many facets of literacy development (letter names and sounds, identifying initial sounds in words, sounding out words, naming vocabulary, noticing and writing high frequency words, etc). At the end of the lesson, students return to their classrooms with a book we have \"written\" that they can feel successful in reading!\r\n\r\nThis board allows for room for us to co-create and house this text through-out the week! As a second-year teacher, I wanted to create an environment where children feel safe, comfortable, and motivated each day. With your support, we've been able to add essential tools that support hands-on math learning, sensory needs, and joyful daily routines.\r\n\r\nThe math manipulatives, such as the place value blocks, have been especially exciting for students. Instead of only seeing numbers on a page, they are now able to touch, move, and explore math concepts in a concrete way. During lessons, I've noticed how much more engaged students are when they can use these tools to build numbers and solve problems. For my learners who need extra practice, the manipulatives make abstract concepts easier to understand and less intimidating. This hands-on approach has already led to stronger confidence in math and more willingness to try challenging tasks.\r\n\r\nThe sensory-friendly items, including the noise-reducing headphones, have made a significant difference in helping all students feel comfortable and ready to learn. Kindergarten can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially for students who are sensitive to sound or need a quiet moment to regroup. Having these tools available has helped children self-regulate and rejoin activities with confidence. Along with the cozy lighting, the classroom now feels like a calmer, more welcoming space. Many students have commented on how much they like the \"warm lights\" and how it makes the classroom feel more like home.\r\n\r\nEven small additions, like the mini erasers used as rewards, have had a big impact. My students love earning them for positive behavior, completing challenges, or helping a classmate. These tiny prizes spark joy and motivate students to do their best. The shoelace-tying toys have also been a fun and practical tool. Several students who were still struggling with tying their shoes now practice independently, building both skill and confidence in their independence.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most inspiring is seeing how these resources combine to make the classroom a place where students want to be. They are more focused during lessons, more willing to take risks, and more connected to each other. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to provide my students with an environment that supports their learning and social growth in meaningful ways. Your generosity has not only provided materials but also created an atmosphere of joy, safety, and belonging for my students. Thank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1746785743853,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-bright-engaging-kindergarten/9132849/","projectTitle":"Building a Bright, Engaging Kindergarten Classroom for Year Two","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cohen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9609951_orig.jpg?crop=571,571,x0,y1&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722061522498","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9609951"},{"teacherId":9609951,"projectId":9132520,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been completely transformed! Before this project was funded, my students often had to share or go without headphones during lessons. This made it difficult for many of them—especially my English language learners—to fully participate in technology-based activities like phonics practice, interactive read-alouds, and language development programs. Now, with a complete set of durable, kid-friendly headphones, every child has equal access to these tools. The difference has been immediate: students are able to focus on their learning without distractions, and the classroom has become much calmer and more productive during technology time.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for the students has been the independence these headphones give them. With the volume limits protecting their ears and the built-in microphones allowing them to record and listen to their voices, the kids feel empowered. Many have discovered the joy of listening to digital stories and practicing letter sounds without struggling to hear over their classmates. For my English language learners, this is especially powerful. They are able to replay words and sounds as many times as they need, giving them confidence to use new vocabulary in conversations. I've seen students who were once hesitant to participate now volunteering to share what they learned because they've had the chance to practice independently with their headphones.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who entered kindergarten knowing very little English, has warmed so much to this new technology. With his new headphones, he spends time every day on a reading app that pairs images with spoken words. Because he can hear clearly and without interruption, he has quickly picked up new phrases and even started using them with his classmates. His pride in showing what he can do is a perfect example of how this project has removed barriers to learning.\r\n\r\nOverall, these headphones have helped create a classroom environment where all students are engaged, focused, and excited to learn. Technology is no longer something that frustrates them because of broken or missing equipment—it is now a tool that supports their growth. The smiles on their faces when they put on their \"special headphones\" show just how meaningful your gift has been. Thank you for believing in my students and helping them access the tools they need to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1742960019997,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-kindergarteners-get-durable-head/9132520/","projectTitle":"Help My Kindergarteners Get Durable Headphones!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cohen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9609951_orig.jpg?crop=571,571,x0,y1&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722061522498","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9609951"},{"teacherId":3714233,"projectId":9451007,"letterContent":"Wow, thank you so much for your contributions to our classrooms!
