Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are doing their best to navigate the world of school in the midst of so many ongoing challenges. We have started a Peer Support Team to help spread wellness across our campus. Students will support one another with academic and social-emotional check-ins as well as structured peer mediation, but they need a restorative space to do so.

This project will transform a cluttered former classroom into an SEL oasis where students can check in, relax, destress, practice mindfulness, and engage in art and creativity.

Here our Peer Support Team will be able to meet with students, hold circles, and help each other build greater connections and resilience to thrive in school and outside it. Calming environments support student wellness, and with these materials, this space will become a vital place for connecting with our community.
