Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This school year will mark my first year as a first-grade teacher, and while I’m a little nervous, I’m even more excited to begin this new adventure! Many of my students will be looping up with me from kindergarten, so I already have a strong connection with them and an understanding of what will help support their learning and growth. They are an enthusiastic, curious group of learners, and I can’t wait to continue building on the progress we’ve made together. I want to provide them with a welcoming, flexible, and creative learning environment that supports both their academic and artistic growth. My students are full of energy and creativity, and I want to nurture those qualities through flexible seating options and engaging materials.
Flexible seating and creative tools will transform our classroom into a space where all students feel comfortable and inspired to learn.
Floor cushions and lap desks will give students choices in how and where they work, helping them focus and take ownership of their learning. Stools will make our small group area and writing center more functional and inviting. Watercolors, paint, brushes, and construction paper will offer students outlets to express themselves, build fine motor skills, and explore their ideas in creative ways. These items will help me support students' individual needs and create a classroom where everyone feels included and valued.
My goal is to create a learning space where my students feel at home—a place that sparks creativity, builds confidence, and encourages collaboration. First grade is a year of tremendous growth, and with your support, we can make sure that our classroom meets the needs of all learners.
