Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love reading and exploring books together, but they need a special place to keep these books safe and ready to be read.

I have a first grade classroom.

My students come from very low socio-economic, Hispanic families where the primary language is Spanish. They are first taught to read and write in Spanish to help them gain fluency before gradually switching to English. They love exploring books in Spanish and in English!

My Project

I am requesting these seat pockets because they would be the perfect spot to keep the students' books at the ready for reading throughout the day. In these pockets, their books would be easily accessible and safe from the active classroom atmosphere.

My students are so excited to share and read books, and this is an excitement I love building upon.

I also strive to show them how to organize and care for their materials, and these seat pockets will assist them in putting this life skill into practice.
