My Project
I am on my second year of teaching Grade 2 in Lowell Public Schools. Last year was an incredible year, but I realized that I needed to make some changes to make my classroom more inclusive to meet the needs of all students, including students in wheelchairs, as well as, secure more classroom materials.
My school houses the Intensive LEAP program and medically fragile children, which includes students in wheelchairs who spend their inclusion time in my classroom.
78% of my school is living below poverty level and there are 70 different spoken languages within our district.
The school budget is very limited and my personal pockets only run so deep. I am looking to purchase seat sacks for each student to store their materials and eliminate clutter on the floor from storage containers, making it easier for all students, especially those in wheelchairs.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
