My students are very sweet and work very hard to become positive learners. They come to school every day knowing that our environment is a safe place where they can grow and shine. They come to school in hopes that we have the tools to help them succeed.
I teach in an urban kindergarten through eighth grade elementary school that is in a low income neighborhood.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty area, my students are faced with many obstacles both in and out of the classroom environment. My classroom consists of two separate groups of 28 second grade students in each group there are also English language learners. Many of my students come to school without the supplies that they need to get through a school day. They have the ambition to go places but lack the tools to help them get there.
My Project
My students would benefit greatly from seat pockets. It will help them to learn the responsibility of keeping their belongings in one spot. My students are divided into two sections. I have a morning class and then an afternoon class. The students do not have cubbies or even a desk with a storage space to place all of their belongings in for the day.
My students could really use the seat pockets to keep their belongings organized in my room and not have them all over the table and the floor.
These seat sacks will help keep their supplies at arms length as well as fix the problem of their supplies being lost or even damaged.
