This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students, who are super eager to read, love our school library and they look forward to their library visits. They love how beautiful and spacious the library is. But most importantly, our students love the fact that we have so many fun, exciting, and wonderful books, almost 10,000 books in fact!

With that, I want to make sure all my students to feel comfortable and have a positive experience when they visit their school library.

However, a library as big as ours can be a bit overwhelming for some students. For instance, our library shelves can get a bit too difficult to reach for some. For others, there are so many library topics and fiction genres that they need signs to guide them to their favorites. Others are more comfortable sorting through a selection of books in bins rather than the bookshelf to help them find that attention grabbing book they have been looking for. And then, we have those who just want to take the book on display because it immediately caught their attention.

Basically, when my students go to their library to find their book, I want to make it a fun and stress free experience. My students look forward to reading books and I want to make sure they find what they are looking for. I want to help them find books that are not only at their reading level but find books on topics and genres they enjoy. I even want to help our indecisive students discover books unfamiliar to them become a new topic or genre they can enjoy.

With your assistance on this project, you will help my students discover their love of reading and thus become lifelong readers.
