I teach 3rd grade in an inner-city, public, elementary school where all my students are English Language Learners. About 80% of our students are low-income and receive free or reduced-price lunches. "Having a thirst for learning" simply understates my students' attitudes toward their learning. My students are a group of motivated, hardworking learners. They are eager and ready to learn every day to build upon their knowledge. I am very fortunate to work with this group of students who yearn to learn from the start of the school day to the last bell of the day.
Our school’s mission is to provide students with effective teaching methods and a safe and nurturing environment that will prepare them for their future.
It is imperative for students to understand the importance of being global citizens who appreciate learning through collaboration. In this holistic approach, students learn the importance to be self-disciplined and work together to further challenge their thinking.
My Project
A wireless classroom where students get to share their own screens instantly on the projector to explain their thinking. Real time annotation shared with students. Flawless transition between read alouds, science experiments, and/or historical/current video clips to minimize wait time. Various teaching techniques and methods delivered to streamline and meet the needs of different learners. These are what I’d perceive as the perfect learning scenarios.
An Apple TV will allow these moments to become a reality where learning and sharing become seamless.
Having such a device in the classroom will create a wireless learning environment where students are no longer bonded to one type of learning experience.
