This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have very big hearts and truly make do with what they have. For some, school is their safe haven from extremely poverty stricken and violent homes. My students are in a very low income community. They are kind and loving but may not get all the things they need. I have really gotten to know these students in out building and their families very well. I have already learned that I have children who come from needy families. Some of my children come from split families where they may or may not see one or both parents. I am very lucky to be able to touch these kiddos lives. They are very creative and love to be able to explore their learning world through my classroom.

Each child in the class has his or her own unique personality that has really brought our community together.

They are very creative and are starting to really enjoy the academic world and are improving every day.

My Project

We all know that children need school supplies in the beginning of the year. I am requesting items essential to student learning. It was amazing last year to see the relief in many families when they were told they did not need to provide school supplies for their child and I would like to do the same this coming school year.

I am requesting the 24 count packs of crayola crayons,staples clear pencil boxes, dixon ticondaroga pencils, Elmers large glue sticks (they last longer) etc.

to be able to provide this relief to families and put a smile on each child's face that walks through the door.

I am also asking for some things such as grey and yellow daisy borders, sea buddies cut outs, and ocean theme bulletin board items to make our classroom a fun place to be. The more the classroom feels welcoming the better the students respond are caring to one another. Another thing that we were in need of is a bookcase. The bookcase that I was using for my monthly books (special books for each month to excite the children) was broken last year. Bookcases are hard to come by and a metal revolving bookcase display stand would be wonderful so children can easily see these books. Another thing that is essential is Lysol wipes. I use them a few times a week to try to keep children healthy in the classroom.
