Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an SDC (Special Day Class) my students need a lot of directives to be able to make it through the day. Keeping the curriculum labeled and organized, will help my students with processing problems to be more independent.
My students are wonderful kids who have learning disabilities and many times need to have directions repeated over and over again.
I would like them to feel successful by trying to get them to be more independent in the classroom. It is essential for kids with disabilities to feel that they can do things on their own.
My Project
These bins will be use to label math sheets and other activities for centers, where my students can go and get what they need independently. Trying to get my special day class students to be more independent will be a very difficult task, but it's a task that must be done in order for them to feel successful, which will help increase their self-esteem.
Children love to be independent and these bins will help me organize their work in a way where they can do things on their own without needing the help of an adult all the time.
Labeling work clearly for them will lessen the directives that I must give them several times per assignment. This will have a great impact in their self-esteem!
