Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive, enthusiastic and creative individuals who have limited resources and are in need of art supplies to support their success while distance learning. Many of my students have very different socioeconomic backgrounds, learning needs and styles. Not only do they have a difficult time with distance learning, but not every students has access to technology or internet access to complete their assignments from home. I plan to create a level playing field by giving my students the basic "take home ceramic kit" for easy access to materials during Covid19.
My Project
As you may all know by now, Educators and students are returning to the classroom facing unprecedented challenges this upcoming school year. How do we reactive students in learning after they have been distance learning for the past year and a half? For an art teacher this requires us to safely transition into the art classroom by providing each student with the necessary materials. The supplies that I have requested are for each of my students to have the necessary materials to create art projects from scratch. These materials are the essential basics for a ceramics classroom and will definitely make a difference in my students learning needs. These materials will allow students to work on their projects and have the basic tools necessary for my ceramics class. With these materials, I will be able to assign my students different assignments such as; clay whistles, relief tiles, cookie jars, coil pumpkins lanterns, piggy banks, jewelry boxes, etc. With the support of each donor, I will be able to create rigorous assignments for my students to successfully complete each project during this unprecedented school year.
