My Students

Our school is nestled in the community of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. My students come together to learn each day, many speaking English as their second language, from origins all over the globe! They are creative, enthusiastic, and inquisitive learners! I strive to encourage their curiosity with hands-on, project-based study and educational and creative play.

We work hard to foster an environment of respect and collaboration.

Our classroom includes a wide-variety of learning levels and styles, and those differences are acknowledged and celebrated. Each child is valued, not only as an important member of our first-grade team, but as an individual.

My Project

If you have seen my prior projects, you know that generous donations have already sent a gorgeous tv screen to my classroom. I cannot begin to tell you how invaluable this technology has been to my teaching this year. Because of social-distancing practices, communicating with students has taken A LOT of reconfiguring. Having a screen in the room lets me to “zoom in” or project my instruction and, in a way, allows me to get close to my students, even while I must physically stay away.

Unfortunately, the days of 26 students learning together on the rug are gone, at least for now.

My 32-inch screen, while helpful, is not always easily viewable to all of my first graders, especially those at the back of our classroom. The goal of this new project is to upgrade the size of our screen, so that all of the children in my room have a front-row seat to great learning!
