Scratching the Surface - Musical Manuscript for Middle School
Help me give my students access to exciting, new and original sheet music to play! The Microsoft Surface Go and pen stylus will make it much easier for me to create quick and legible copies of musical manuscript.

My Students
The students at our middle school are hardworking, creative, compassionate, and driven towards excellence. They are eager to take on the challenges of changing our world in a positive way and are ready to use their musical voices as a guiding force in creating change.
The communities we serve are vibrant and diverse.
Although many of our students face daily challenges in the neighborhoods they live in, they do so with optimism, integrity, and pride. As teachers, we strive to give them a place that elevates their voices.
My Project
I am constantly writing out parts for the musicians in my classes to play. Sometimes these are original compositions (mine and theirs) and sometimes they are modified versions of current arrangements we are playing. I frequently have to rewrite parts as I make changes to the arrangement or need to transpose for a different instrument. This is an incredibly time consuming job and I have been searching for a way to make it easier.
Enter the Microsoft Surface Pro and StaffPad!
StaffPad allows the user to enter music by hand using a stylus, and the Microsoft Surface immediately transforms it into beautiful computer generated manuscript. As it is a digital file, I can print as many copies as necessary and edit and transpose parts at will. StaffPad is only available on the Microsoft Surface platform.
