This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are fun-loving, smart, and hardworking! Our students come from all across the city to participate in the unique ELL (English Language Learner) New Arrivals Program, and ASD program, both specific for grades 6-8.

My students come from all different backgrounds to create a positive learning environment, where they will be encouraged to brainstorm, collaborate, and create works of art.

It is truly a unique urban setting.

Students at our middle school take an ​art class for an entire school year as a required elective and specials class and range in different skill levels and abilities.

My Project

My students in 6th grade learn about Ancient Greece in their Social Studies classes.

I want to collaborate with the Social Studies teachers to create a cross-disciplinary lesson where students will create vases inspired by those in Ancient Greece using Scratch Art Paper.

My students will learn about symmetry, and positive/negative space. I am creating individual art supply packs for my students to each have their own materials in the event social distancing protocols go back into place, or that we switch temporarily to distance learning. These scratch art tools and paper will be given to my students so that we can continue to create artwork regardless of what obstacles may come our way this year.
