Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is very special; we are a high-performing, Title I, Renaissance school. Our school population is about 88% Hispanic, 7% Caucasian, about 3% African American, and about 2% Asian. Most of our students are English language learners. Our high performance is really due to how hard our students work. Their great efforts score enormous gains for our school.

In addition to our hard-working students, we truly have great caring families that allow our school culture to be one of a kind.

Our parents and students value education as much as our teachers do. Together with our families, we make our school a wonderful place for students to learn and teachers to teach!

My Project

This project is meant for students to have a keepsake of their 2nd grade school year! Every year I take pictures of all my students during special events, engaging lessons, or milestone moments throughout the year.

I create a scrap book page for each student that highlights their achievements, successes, and fun moments.

Usually the student and their families love it and it is something that they treasure some families even frame it! The last couple of years I think families treasure this gift even more because parents haven't really been able to volunteer and participate in school activities.
