Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is high poverty serving over 700 students. The free and reduced lunch rate at our school is 85%. Most of the students in the school are not allowed to play and exercise outdoors near their home due to crime and other dangers within the community. Some of the children's only chance to exercise is during physical education class.

As a physical education teacher, my mission is to provide a safe space for my students to learn and practice living a healthy life through the joy of movement and organized play.

Providing all students the opportunity to learn and be able to be moving is important. Please consider donating to this project so that all students will have the opportunity to begin their journey of health and fitness in a positive and fun way!

My Project

By providing the students a variety of ways to learn in PE, it allows students to find a way to move that is both fun and motivating for each individual child's personal interests. It is important that learning to move is a fun experience and scooters provide that for children.

Scooters can be used and modified into countless activities and sports to create a variety of challenges and interest for all ability levels.

By funding this project, I will use scooters in my classroom to play lead-up games of basketball, soccer, and hockey. I will also teach my students basic swim strokes and many other games like relay races.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
