This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach over 525 elementary students each week in P.E. More than 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch at our Title I school in the heart of Utah. The majority of our school time and funds are dedicated to academics.

However, when it's time for PE, our kids are ready to let loose and play all kinds of engaging activities.

Unlike computer games, P.E. is live action with hands-on experience as students' hearts, hands and feet race to catch, throw, kick, trap and dribble.

My Project

All children are energized by fun P.E. activities. Introduce an awesome game and students have so much fun, they don’t even realize they are improving their physical health. Kick-riding scooters are just that kind of over the top, ultra-fun activity.

As my special education students ride scooters, they will develop the muscular strength of their arms and legs.

They'll improve their fine and gross motor skills. Even more, students are transported to a world of play that encourages physical activity.

It can be hard to motivate students to be active. However, that all changes when you let a child ride a scooter. Before they know it, my special ed students will be enjoying the health benefits from aerobic exercise.
