Scooter Fun for Everyone!

Help me give my students at our title one school these scooter boards and short hockey sticks so they can experience some fun and exciting activities. I can use this equipment in a variety of ways in PE.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These scooter boards will allow the students of Belshaw Elementary to get exercise, have fun, build self esteem, and use teamwork with their classmates. The boards roll extremely well outdoors, and will provide a highly engaging atmosphere, where all students will be enthusiastic about participating.

I plan on using them in a variety of ways in a safe manner in my physical education classes.

One fun activity is where I place several items in the center of a large square. Teams of 5 ( at the most) will line up behind a cone with a scooter board in front of the line. The first student in line will sit on the board, hold on to the handles, and push with their feet towards the center to retrieve an item and bring it back to their team. This student will place the item next to their cone, get off the scooter, and go to the end of the line to help cheer on their teammates to try and collect more items.

Another fun activity includes the short hockey sticks that are to be used with these scooter boards. Students will sit on the boards, hold on with one hand, while using the other hand to dribble, pass, and aim to a target with a hockey puck.

I have been teaching PE for 25 years and know that this equipment will be a great, addition to our PE program here at our Elementary. I will make sure my students will use the boards and hockey sticks in a safe, fun, and engaging manner. I plan on staying at this school for a long time, and these high quality boards will be enjoyed by students for many years to come!
