Help me give my students science equipment that they need to become future scientists. My students do not have enough microscopes and there are no atomic model kits in my school lab.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is unique in that it is the only museum school in a large city in Illinois. We have partnerships with various museums. Our goal is to make the city an extension of our classrooms. Our students must be prepared to be the scientists of the future.
Our science lab is in need of the equipment it needs to create the scientists and engineers of tomorrow.
Our students would love to have the equipment necessary to investigate the world of science and engineering.
My Project
These materials will assist my students in learning science using the think and act like a scientist approach. Students need the equipment to do science the way scientists do. We are using the NGSS set of standards, which requires students to conduct inquiry based investigations to make learning relevant, meaningful and relate able to them. Without these essential, basic materials they cannot make the connections they need. It is difficult to get a student to be invested in the scientific concepts by showing them bacteria slides on a computer screen but when you give them a microscope and allow them to see for themselves, that is magical.
Remember the first time you looked into a microscope and saw the tiny world around us?
