This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students love Project Based Learning experiences that allow them to showcase their talents and knowledge in multiple ways.T hey are an energetic group, of students that are excited about learning new things.
We are part of a Title I school that services many students of color.
They are a part of an African Centered Curriculum Program that is a very unique program that involves making connections with their ancestral histories. The student in the program travel from kindergarten to fifth grade together which builds the collective bonds intended by the program. We are a school that has 3 program under one roof that makes us a very uniques place.
Learning and engagement are two of my high priorities for my students in there elementary school experience
My Project
The materials that are requested are needed and necessary for the true implementation of science in my 5th grade classroom. Students are not exposed to opportunities to create and use critical thinking and solve hands-on problems.
The items will be used for our science water and chemistry unit that we are working on this year.
Students do not have adequate science measuring tools. This will allow my students to have hands-on experiences with chemical reaction that they need in order to do the actual experiments. This will give the students the opportunity to have more of a rounded exposure to science materials that they will encounter in the future grade levels.
We will use the snap circuit sets to allow students to explore and enhance their science experience. It will aide us in the hopes of creating future Science Leaders and build interest in STEM based careers.
