My Students
My kids come from all over the world. They are different as night and day but, no one sees that. Everyone is treated equally and no one worries about skin color.
Over 90% of our kids are on free or reduced lunches and many are English Language Learners.
I have seen many friends not speak the same language but they find a way to communicate. Several come from poor, broken homes and school is an escape for many. We have every different kind of personality you can imagine and I love each and every one of them.
My Project
All of these supplies will help encourage my kids to better understand the wonderful world of science. The games will reinforce lessons in a fun way students will remember. Even the cash register rolls will be used for science. I have used these in the past when learning spacial distance between planets. We use the rolls to measure the scale distance. I didn't have any this year and we had to use yarn. This didn't work at all because it became all tangled and the kids weren't able to see the outcome of their work.
"I wish we had microscopes to be able to see the cells we are learning about." I hear this every year from my kids and I completely agree with them.
We start our year off with learning about cells and their organelles. If we had microscopes to actually see them, this would get them excited right off the bat and be excited about what is to come in our class.
